Andy Diaz and William E. Doleman

November 29 - December 3, 2022

Miami Beach, FL

William E. Doleman, Hippygliph, 2018, paint, bleach and marker on stretched t-shirt, 16 x 20 in

William Doleman (b. 1949, San Francisco) is an admitted eccentric and hippy. He utilizes tie-dyed fabrics and bleached t-shirts that have been stretched onto old canvas stretcher bars with push pins to paint on. Doleman has dubbed his visionary works “Hippygliphs”, and to him they are meditative communications with good spirits and energy, and seek to find absolute harmony within this universe. His comical figures and creatures are wildly imaginative and are intuitively conjured by the artist as he sees forms come into focus within the dyed and bleached areas of each work. Both playful and sincere, Doleman's Hippygliphs provide us a glimpse into another realm.

Andy Diaz, Punk Rock, 2022, spray paint on canvas, 48 x 48 in

Andy Diaz (b. 1993, Miami) is a self-taught artist based in Hialeah, FL, who spends his days skateboarding, drawing in notebooks and painting, usually with cans of spray paint in his backyard. Larger than life, his painted characters and scenes channel a love of emoji culture while also documenting his day-to-day struggles and our shared current world moment. Diaz's canvases range from hazy dreamscapes painted in subtle earth tones to more aggressive scenes rendered fluorescent day glow colors.
