Loren Erdrich

Campfire For Ghosts

  • Campfire for Ghosts is Loren Erdrich’s debut solo-presentation with SHRINE.

Using organic and synthetic dyes, and raw pigments mixed only with water, Loren Erdrich creates atmospheric images that drift in and out of focus and wholly embody the unpredictable nature and fluidity of water.

Erdrich guides us into a realm existing somewhere between the tangible Earthly world and the spiritual beyond. Fire is the centerpiece of her show, serving as the great leveler and also a source for renewal and redemption.

  • This exhibition is online-only and the second in a series of digital shows at SHRINE that highlight new gallery artists. These exhibitions feature never-before-seen artworks, images of the artists’ studios, virtual installation vantages, looping videos and details of individual works.

My paintings are forged out of a reciprocal relationship between medium and content. Unbound synthetic and organic pigments are applied to canvas and muslin, mixed solely with water. Utilizing water as my guide gives rise to a world that embraces fluidity.

I lean towards moments which dissolve the separation between outside and inside, me and you, this world and the other-worldly.
